MultiCare five-year environmental sustainability goals and targets
MultiCare Health System is committed to protecting the planet and delivering a positive environmental legacy for future generations as we operate and grow our business. In this spirit, and in keeping with MultiCare’s mission to partner for healing and a healthy future, we are responding to the 2020 Earth Day Northwest Challenge with our environmental sustainability goals and targets in the areas of energy, emissions, waste-to-landfill diversion and water consumption reduction.
Our five-year environmental sustainability goals and targets are an important tool that helps measure our progress and guide us as we strive to meet our overall, aspirational goal of attaining net zero greenhouse gas emissions and waste. These medium-term environmental goals and targets are specific, measurable and timely, and involve every person in our organization and every aspect of our operations.
By 2025, reduce energy use intensity by 10% over our 2015 baseline.
By 2025, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% over our 2015 baseline.
Achieve a 40 percent waste-to-landfill diversion rate, while maintaining regulated medical waste levels.
By 2025, reduce water consumption by 10 percent over our 2015 baseline.
