Board Diversity for Regional Sustainability
Equity and inclusion are at the center of Seattle Works’ strategy. As a non-profit, they are dedicated to connecting individuals with volunteer opportunities across the region, and training young people to be the leaders of tomorrow.
In partnership with Earth Day Northwest 2020, they have proposed a project centered on equity and inclusion.
At Seattle Works, they know that representation is key to the success of environmental organizations. These organizations need to be led by the individuals who are the most impacted by climate change, who have been historically marginalized.
Seattle Works will be conducting a Board Diversity training program for 40-60 individuals from marginalized communities. The program will train prospective leaders on how to serve on boards of local environmental non-profits. In doing so, they will advance and increase representation at the highest level of organizations in the environmental justice movement.
At the end of the program, graduates will be invited to a mix-n-mingle where they can connect with local environmental organizations who may be looking for board members.
We look forward to seeing this new program roll out. We will keep you updated as more information is available!
